Medical Exchange, welcome Matt up to the stage. Thank you. All right, I'm doing a community currency experiment called Edges. The first thing to know about it is that this is primarily a social experiment. We are trying to do something that has, in my opinion, never been done with huge success ever, which is creating a community currency that people deeply care about. The reason why... Thank you. Okay, so what's the problem with regular money? Money is a form of information compression. It enables people to represent complex information about value and communicate about that information to socially distant people, which is great. The problem with that is that it erodes community. Because if we're thinking about who's the highest bidder or the lowest bidder globally, we're not thinking about what we can offer and what is needed within our more local community. And the use of universal units of account like dollars and bitcoins and anything that is, you know, the value of it is understood universally, pulls us into that headspace. So, can we build a community currency system where we get the coordinative magic of money without eroding community and context. That is what we are trying to do. The edges system is an experiment in whether we can do this. There are two basic ideas. The governance of the entire thing is malleable, and I'll be holding sessions over the next days and weeks where we can sort of change the rules and change how it all works. There are two basic ideas that we're testing. One is the idea of mutual trust. The other is the idea of exit taxes. Mutual trust is basically a ritual by which we all put a very small amount of real money together and allow everyone else to take out more than they put in. So in other words, in order to join the thing, we're going over this threshold where we're trusting one another not to exploit each other. Second is exit taxes. This has to do with building sort of a membrane around the community of users, imposing some friction or some cost to sending value out of the system. Now, you need to think about community currencies differently from universal currencies. And this is the real trick. This is really what we're testing. Using universal currencies is a great way to empower yourself as an individual. That's basically what they are for. Using a community currency is a great way of empowering a whole community. So the reasons why you want it are different. And helping, you know, getting us as a group of users to sort of grok this is the real key. So that's what I'm sort of inviting you all into to participate in. You can start using it. Go to lanaedges.radicalexchange.org. You also have access to it from within the edge Lana app And in order to get on boarded in order to become like an official member of the system and get your initial allotment of 100 edges you need to go through that trust ritual so you can Venmo me the information is on there or you can find me and I will take you through that trust ritual and get you set up to start using it. That's the basic idea. Thank you.
