## Description

Rene Reinsberg, Co-founder of Celo, joins Kartik Talwar at Pragma India 2023 to break down one of the most exciting shifts in Web3 infrastructure: Celo's transition from a standalone Layer 1 to becoming an Ethereum Layer 2. Learn why the move was proposed, how it enhances scalability and decentralization, and what it means for Celo’s mission of regenerative finance, global financial inclusion, and ultra-low-fee microtransactions.

From technical milestones to governance decisions, validator decentralization to community currencies, this deep dive explores how Celo plans to leverage Ethereum’s security while maintaining its unique value proposition. If you're interested in rollups, OP Stack, ZK tech, ReFi, or how to onboard real-world users to crypto, this talk is for you.
