Top 10 must-see opportunities for students — Solene Daviaud | Dev3pack

## Transcript

Hello. Hello. Nice to meet everyone. I'm so glad to be here for this presentation related to students itself because uh I was starting by um a student blockchain come on my side and I think um it's kind of powerful to really make it in web three. Um and having talent is not in us. Uh it's all about networking stuff. So I want to present a few things. Um so yes let's talk about opportunities. A bit of context uh why also we need a student into the ecosystem is because only uh 11 um thousand full-time developer are into the industry. So that means it's three time less than Google for example. So it's not sustainable at all um for uh the ecosystem and that's why we need a new wave and students are part of this new wave. Yeah. So project are still fighting into the same pool since 2022. Um so as I mentioned it's really not sustainable at all. Um and so right now I want to present really the step to success uh as a student. So one of the first things like how you heard about web three itself sometimes it's because you are joining a student blockchain club into your your university or you are just scrolling LinkedIn and so and so a few opportunities there it's not about going to X and X and so this thing is really like homeing deers through LinkedIn or through universities. Um so one of the main communities I know uh outside blockchain student club itself um but are running cool stuff globally is bath um so it's like a blockchain acceleration um things um especially designed for um people young like us itself. So they're running a couple of great stuff for you if you want to join them. Um it's a cool things. Uh don't hesitate to uh and another one is about college DA. So probably you already heard about them. Um so same thing it's also a great uh network. So you can just take take like be in touch with the B like Bryant mind in into the whole um global network of students like if you need anything if you are traveling somewhere or something like this. Uh last time they just run um something with layer. It was game. So they gather some blockchain clubs um and compete into um into something into each blockchain club and then the top two uh will uh like went into into its Denver sorry. So probably you heard about this initiative and they will do another one for dev connect. Uh so keep keep that in mind. uh if you you are a student um in a blockchain club you can you can um take part this kind of initiative that is really clearly relevant because 30 students from there uh from this I gain games uh go to opportunities such as uh internship um with top top companies in web three foundation Gemini um so don't hesitate really to take part in university program related to to web3 with protocols etc. All right. So I want also to talk about defac because it's what I'm building um like it's I'm the founder of defac as a goal is to on board women and students developers coming from web two um into web three with a clear path uh to to really make it in web three uh so from the technical point of view uh with boot camps etc but also just networking with top mind in the industry is the best thing to do um because as I mentioned before having talent It's really not enough and we need to heard about opportunities and opportunities passed by um by joining uh a few initiative. So actually yes we are supporting by leading projects. So you can see 42 by the way it's like a cool network of developer school especially in Europe. And so basically the fact that we're backed by uh this kind of project um allow you to be mentored by the by them and really have opportunities. So yeah, I I'm doing that uh since uh February actually and we got uh already uh three uh 300 applications uh from 45 countries is really global and with uh like touching uh 120 more than 120 universities and uh we're it's like a fellowship. So it's during uh all this year you got uh learning but also opportunities and really get in touch with the right people it's the best thing to do. So yeah just wanted to showcase that but um the other steps when you want to make it learn from the best um so it's not about only uh going to conference etc. It's also about uh educate yourself with online platform that is great and something I want to say too is okay you are you are learning it's like a self assignment for you but if you are part into uh a communities before the thing is you can all take the courses and follow uh up uh everyone etc. It's a great thing like to learn collectively with great online resources like this. So speederum is is clearly about um something straightforward u to um clearly um solve a bit of challenges like a few ch technical challenges while learning solidity in the same time. So after after doing speedrun you can join a batches uh which is about learning how to master open source u collectively it's pretty useful especially for um especially uh for doing a katon after that etc etc and you can earn grants so yes I will just move forward uh all right another great uh resources about Ciphin. So I guess you know Ciphin, it's actually the best resources I can say um to really master uh smart contract development and uh this one is really like when you are going to LinkedIn uh I I recruiters are just going through LinkedIn type cipher and they they they can find whole profile that I've create like that I've done uh courses and this and by this way they can uh go the jobs and opportunities. Another one is Alchemy University. So probably you heard about it too. Um so great thing too. Uh aqu quest. So more recently they made a bit of more noise than before. um especially because into the platform you can also join acons um but there there like a syllabus with a great uh curriculum you can follow to um help you um web three campass so it's clearly uh something new uh that probably two months ago actually and so you can register for 30 days of solidity and like each day you learn about uh doing one smart contract with a real use case for fundamental to ified NFTs and etc. It's pretty straightforward. It's like you have to concentrate uh one hour by day uh by doing that. And the thing is also um is about um flourishing your GitHub um because people who are hiring looking for great um developers and for that they're looking for your GitHub first. So yeah, it's like one day. Um, this one is more for I would say front end developer want to switch um into web three. Uh, I think it's the best one actually. And the last one I can say uh is about the AVM book come from an club. So the particularity of this one is it's human. So it's not like you're going to the platform and you're doing a self assignment for yourself. is about um really having a teacher mentoring a mentorship in the same time and and it's pretty what we are looking for when we starting because we want to be like to navigate into the right path you know so yeah um as I mentioned open source is super important um so again I can talk about anidas so actually it's the best platform if you want to find a web project um saves time don't like you don't need to go to GitHub and find project to contribute to. It's really um you are going to the on platform and you can see the project itself. You can um select your language, programming language, filter uh by ecosystem etc etc and like that you can but it's pretty straightforward to contribute to. All right. Um, Eterum is announcing soon an internship program especially for people who want to um like because we can see that junior developers don't have any opportunities and so that's why it foundation has just created that is to make sure this people this young talents can uh go uh into the into web3 with opportunities like this an interum internship more related to open source Um, talent protocol. Uh, I don't know if you heard about it. Talent protocol is like a protocol where you can um you can um um having some data related to your building stuff. Uh and then they're going to get you a score like this. Uh sorry like this. And then in fact um when you have to get a grant and so on especially on the super chain ecosystem it's pretty huge um because they just like uh relays they just like rely on um your score to give you uh a grants to make sure you are a great builders. Um so yeah it's kindle like your profession professional reputation data. All right. Um, we are on time I guess on 10 minutes. Okay, perfect. Because I was going fast, right? Nice. Um, so another thing you may know is about going to aon. So I know um some people sometimes don't have enough money to go uh to Agathon but don't hesitate to uh do it online with your community that you join just before for example a blockchain student clubs etc because it's like this you you feel more comfortable to go into a I know the first one is every time um complicated so don't hesitate to go to academy but also online if you don't have enough funds like is global but you may know Taik um so actually actually is Belgrad yes is Belgradon is into Taik Defolio I I just showcas in a few websites um that are hosting online but also I one Aquest better box and conclub um so you heard probably about about them before and then the last step is about launch your carrier. So I can mention the four companies um that that are running specific internship for students. Um so Camb ledger Gemini uh and Nethermind on my side I was internet ledger I'm pretty close to Camb um so there actually a specific bounty but I think it's just for us and Canadian yeah um so the goal is um create a challenge just to detect uh the next talents the next year talents for their they their upcoming um summer internship. So don't hesitate to take a look at this company. Um Nethermine is running like a third month a three months uh internship uh even even if you are just graduated um or not. uh you you can you can make it. Um so just take a look at it and Gemini just launched a specific program uh for students this year and some some students are already made it. Um so yeah just take a look at it. Um and if you don't want to go uh into a company etc you can build your own startup. So a lot of program are existing after um to really do it. So on my side um I I was that ledger but also I was running my own startup in DeFi and so for that I joined an incubator um especially related to um my universities there. So that that helped me to do that. um and also I join um an incubator both in web three. So both both things are great especially if you are running a startup like in web two and in web three. So just to summarize to sum up um so you can first join uh student blockchain club or just go scroll on LinkedIn uh check for example def my project um especially if you are a woman um you can join it um easily learn from the best with different kind of uh educational initiative contribute to open source projects especially because contribute to open source project is great if you don't have like a collective mindset but you still want to grow into the ecosystem like you are shy to go to a with people etc you can do your stuff on your own uh with with open source projects go to aon and launch on career and I will repeat it again having a talent is not enough um it's really all about networking um in web three um and probably you are also here especially for that. So um yeah just keep that in mind um because u it's knowing one the right people that you can make it really in web three itself. So and just uh again if you want to apply or anything don't hesitate to scan this QR code and um the last slide one of the last slide yeah is about uh about me yes because I I don't present myself itself but I'm the founder of de park um and still probably you know erda so I was the the global leader of which is the second biggest woman association uh globally. So it's like three three,000 members actually. Uh and you know also shifi so we working closely together. Um and I was working at leger and I'm one of the ambassador of and yeah if you want to don slide with all the recap because it was a bit fast and a bit huge I guess. Don't hesitate. Do you have any question? Um, feel free to ask >> on time. >> Just give him a few seconds to scan. I I see people don't waiting. >> Yeah, sure. >> Okay, but perfect timing. We actually have 10 minutes for Q&A. >> Um, >> perfect. these let's give a big applause just so I can like these are great resources like amazing uh I like the part just start your own startup so I was actually applying to internships at 16 uh nobody would give a 16-year-old you know internship so just started a startup so it's it's a really good tip real practical um >> so let's see does anybody have any questions >> I'm pretty straightforward part. So I don't know if you need more details, don't hesitate to catch up with me uh after the presentation. I'm still around. >> I can maybe ask a question for students, I guess, that they'd like to hear. Uh what's what's the what's the average time for a person that's starting from zero to actually landing an internship? >> Um I would say that depends of the network you have too. >> Um but probably in six months you can get something around your country. um first locally uh get something there. Um for example, if you are running like do you are into a blockchain club and then you are looking for a job you can just basically uh do aatons um into your country uh be close to current partners into the agaton build on top of them uh for sure and then you can start negotiating things like for for example um creating your own projects or having an internship something like this I would say six months >> um and also six months because uh you need to have some practice on the technical side so that's why if you are well surrounded six months it's okay um otherwise I would say if you are not integrating any projects you can expected that two years or more >> okay and what about people being already senior web two developers wanting to move to web senior >> for example like people who are already have been working in web two for a few years and they want to move to web three do you have experience with these kinds of people >> yeah yeah because I'm working every day with with this kind of profile so actually the thing is we we lack of something in web three it's a front-end developer um for example so this kind of profile can join easily um web three like they need to understand how to interact with web three itself but during acaton the this profile are really um really want to like I don't know we are looking for this profile so it's kind of easy to to get them on board um and join a great team directly uh to jump into a career itself >> okay awesome last question so you know we are a Tik Tok generation it's a short attention spam. If you had to pick one link to to check out from the presentation, what link would it be? What resource, what site, what company? >> I think I will talk about uh defack. So my project because it's like everything you you you saw that you saw so far during the presentation. Uh I'm really taking care of that uh all the all the journey. Um and even people uh really like every day uh thanks to me uh because I'm clearly someone who's who is not like just say hey please learn something there etc. and really like um follow him up everyone. When I say everyone is like when you when I found um you you give up a bit, I'm jumping directly into oneonone meeting to make sure um how you can um I can help you. uh on my side is really during all my career I was helping by some uh cool people and then right now I want to give back um thanks to all kind network I made globally etc. Yeah. >> Awesome. That sounds amazing guys. Let's give a big applause to Seline.
