# Welcome & Opening Ceremonies of ETHGlobal Cannes 2026 I Kartik Talwar - Speakers: [Kartik Talwar](https://streameth.org/speakers/kartik-talwar) - Channel: [ETHGlobal](https://streameth.org/ethglobal) - Date: 2026-05-09 - Duration: 36:48 - Watch: https://streameth.org/watch/yt-YwYv3JQU8aA - YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwYv3JQU8aA ## Description In this opening ceremony, Kartik Talwar, co-founder of ETH Global, welcomes 810 attendees from 59 countries to ETH Global Cannes 2026 โ€” the organization's 300th event. He traces ETH Global's history from a small 2017 hackathon in Waterloo to a global operation spanning 156 countries with 160,000 attendees, 16,000 projects, and $15 million in prizes. He previews the 2026 calendar including New York, Lisbon, Tokyo, Mumbai, and ETHCom, their largest event ever combining a conference with a hackathon. Kartik covers all logistical details for the weekend: team rules (up to five members, everything from scratch), AI usage policies requiring clear disclosure of what was delegated to LLMs, submission deadlines (Sunday 9 AM), and the two judging tracks โ€” partner prizes (select up to three companies) and finalist track (top 10, deployed live demo required, 4-minute video, onchain credentials plus $1,000 USDC per member). Ian Dillick from World Foundation then presents World ID, Agent Kit built on X2X, and their $20,000 bounty pool. The ceremony closes with the full $150,000 prize breakdown across all 12 partners. 00:00 Pre-Show Announcements 19:42 Welcome to ETH Global Cannes 2026 20:32 ETH Global's Mission and History 22:21 2026 Event Calendar and ETHCom Preview 23:01 ETH Global by the Numbers 24:05 Attendee Stats and Event Overview 25:41 Prizes and Partner Overview 26:21 Hacking Rules and AI Usage Policy 31:26 Schedule, Discord, and Logistics 32:06 Venue Security and Wi-Fi Tips 35:27 Food Schedule and Activities 37:06 NFC Wristbands and Testnet Faucet 38:37 Spotlight Track: Hack-to-Company Stories 38:58 Judging Process: Partner and Finalist Tracks 42:30 Submission Tips and GitHub Best Practices 46:40 Tips for Making Your Project Stand Out 48:12 Mentors and Help Resources 49:06 Code of Conduct and IP Ownership 49:58 World Foundation Presentation: World ID and Agent Kit 53:48 Full $150K Prize Breakdown 54:50 Team Formation and Closing Remarks _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ *ETHGlobal Cannes 2026* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal Cannes 2026, a 3-day hackathon held April 3-5 at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem!
