hello hello everyone I'm happy to be here to talk about the one of the concept that changes the way how we interact with the uh the web uh it's webtreat profiles with the ens domains I'm Muhammad tarnikolo I'm working with ens for about two two years now and as a full stack developer at ens I put my hands in like pretty much every aspect of the job as required so if you have any anything in your mind like any question or interested with anything feel free to just catch me in the event so I'll be happy to ask for anything for those who may not be familiar with the the ens domains or basically the ethereum name service the ens is a decentralized domains name system that runs on the ethereum blockchain and it's a key component of the web3 comp uh web3 ecosystem which represents the the next generation of the internet and this new internet is often called uh a web tree uh so the web3 is a decentralized an open uh the network powered by the the blockchain uh technology and now um within this uh the web tree ecosystem there is a concept that's gaining an attention which is the web 3 profiles and this profile serves as your digital identity in the web 3 world basically and it's making it easier for you to just interact with the centralized applications and services um uh but uh like what exactly like when I ask people you know what is the web 3 profiles like there are merely uh like some common understanding of it so uh I just want to talk about like what it is why why is it important and like how does the ens plays a role in it and I think the another question is like why you should have it so we will be exploring all this oh Sorry by the way I thought that I'm switching so yeah Mohammed trying to go apart so uh now let's dive into the web3 profiles uh so uh as we navigate to the the digital world the our identity is uh the play is an important role so basically uh in the the the traditional World in web 2 we do uh use the the like traditional the applications like we have a lot of profiles in you know like scheduled all across the the internet so I don't know how many profile I have I haven't caught but you know like we have one profile on Facebook another one is is in Twitter another one is in LinkedIn so basically whenever we interact with all these applications what we do is you know we are filling the forms and you know like the answer in the questions and it's always the same fuzz and um so like each of these identities are owned by the respective platform not by you so you have not much saying on top of that and in web3 profile concept the its aims to change this so basically uh it's your like it's still your digital identity in the in the web space but there's a key difference it's oh sorry so it's uh completely yours and you can control you can do whatever you want and also uh within the web 3 space you can just interact with any anniversary platform application or the services just by your only web 3 platform and [Music] um so uh the thing is like the like while seeing the web3 platform uh maybe like let's let's uh go into a little bit more detail like what it covers so the in the web3 space we have like one known identifiers that's known as the blockchain addresses so we have like mini blockchain uh Technologies or the names the layer ones and we have also you know many many the blockchain addresses belong to them so these are your identifiers uh uh while using the web3 space basically the managing all these identifiers is hard because these are just some alphanumeric characters that's not easy for anyone to understand or remember so the web 3 profile is basically uh provide an easy solution for you to just keep everything under one uh rememberable you know memorable identity and and not only that it also keeps the the metadata optionally so uh under web 3 profiles you can have your name your like some biography of yourself or like avatars your favorite nfts uh so your email address any contacts or basically anything and as I mentioned before you are deciding to put all this information not not in not required by any third party and you can change at any time so we can think this is like a like a social media profile but unlike a social media profile is not tied to a specific platform basically the centralized and interoperable and the benefits of F3 profiles are numerous the first thing is the of course the privacy because uh it means that you are not directly sharing your personal information with the third parties what you do is you decide to share your information uh with a decentralized system then you can just you know like alter or delete at any time and another the key benefit of it is basically a security because as then you are not tied to the the security uh measures of the the respected platform but instead you are keeping all this information by yourself and it's just under your hand whenever you want to like sign something or I don't know like agree something change something you are responsible from that so now uh we discussed like pretty much what is the website profile and let's turn uh uh our attention to another crucial components of the web 3 space which is the ens ethereum name service I'm sure a good number of you already have some solid understanding about ens but it's always helpful to go back and visit the fundamentals so the ens Opera is much like a regular domain name system uh so you are familiar with on the traditional web uh but instead of mapping the human uh I mean sorry instead of mapping the IP addresses uh what it does it Maps the the human readable identities to the machine readable identifiers and uh such as like ethereum addresses so these make the uh the the the interaction with the centralized applications more easier you know like doing the transactions are much much easier because you don't need to to you know do the double checking triple checking uh with the all this config like confusing long characters of strings or the uh alphanumeric characters but uh the ens is more than just a convenience it's a fully decentralized and the system meaning is not controlled by any single identity entity so this uh of course aligns with the ethos of the web 3 space or the ecosystem which values the decentralization and the user control as you see in the structure uh we have like two main uh division for the ens on the right side you'll see the ens Tower which is basically uh like set of smart contracts responsible from the governance and the management of the ens protocol and on the left side we have this interconnected uh smart contracts that provides you the seamless user experience for ens while using all the features of EMS and here on the very left side you'll see the registry and the resolver I call them as the backbone of the protocol basically so the registry keeps all the information about your the ens name that you registered so like the ens name the expiry date or the resolver contract address and the resolver contract is super simple it's just a key value store for your data so it can map any data for you and you will use your ens to retrieve this data um oh yeah so and the ens plays a crucial role supporting the web3 profiles the each ens can be associated with the with your all profile information basically um now this means that you interact with a decentralized application uh or service you can just use your ens name instead of using your wallet address or trying to you know like figure out how to give this information to all decentralized services uh so like the the furthermore the ens is not just uh uh uh like four ethereum addresses so basically as I said on the previous slide that the resolver can keep any type of the key value so uh it's a general purpose naming system you can just you know map any information on the internet and use it under the ens this includes the uh one of the concepts as you already aware that the centralized storage content hashes for example uh uh so as you see in the screen that these are the examples of like how ens can be used as a decentralized websites and there are already at least two major browsers that I know opera on Chrome all that it supports ens resolution uh so how how does it work basically you just put the web content of your like of yours to to any decentralized storage and retrieves the retrieve the the content hash and then map the content hash under the ens name and when you just enter the ens name as an URL it will retrieve so your users will be able to retrieve the content and see your the the web applications and the the benefit of this is the censorship resistant so it's not like a traditional domain systems and on the image you can see that like many public figures and the the projects that are that have the traditional web uh web applications all that have the web the centralized web Alternatives as well so uh these were still the makes the ens a powerful tool in the web3 space and um yeah so all right here there's also yeah there is also another use case that we call the sign in with ethereum uh uh if you haven't heard about it uh it's basically uh the ethereum Improvement proposal uh which called eyp for three six one uh so the project is basically uh the the social login for the web3 space in short the like yes uh key building block for the for the centralized web like it simplifies the the interactions with ethereum address or other blockchain addresses you have the the web3 profile there and you have like any data that you mapped under the resolver basically and it's just easy to it's super easy to integrate uh so as we continue in uh improve uh upon the ens content to build and the improve the uh upon the ens ecosystem we have developed a several new tools that I'm going to just tell a little bit about today so this Concepts call like first one is name wrapper and the second one is CCI period and the third one is the DNS sec and let's talk about the name wrapper first so the name wrapper is a the groundbreaking addition to the ens the previously NS was just the erc721 uh nft and when you create a subdomain it was just a record now we are changing this so when you have the the wrapped ens name the your ens name will become an erc1155 standard and then whenever you create a subdomain or sub subdomain or like any hierarchical the subdomains these all these all of them will be the you know like the new nfts furthermore uh the the name wrapper has also a new uh uh permission default system which called fuses so basically uh I think it's going to be much easier to give an example here let's say that you have a product and for that product you secured your ens name and then you decided that maybe it's a good idea to give your usernames to subdomains and but there is one uh Missing part of it so basically you want to give a subdomain for your users but you don't want them to transfer or you don't want them to the the extent the expire of the subdomain uh more than what you like more than the like which time you assign for them so this is where the the fuses are working basically when you are minting the subdomain you are able to tell by default that I want to create uh the subdomain for this user but I want this subdomain to be non-transferable or non-extendable and we have like many many features as you see like I can just see like four seven but there are more so I'll definitely suggest you to either the the scan the query or maybe take a picture for the later use and uh the next one is the ccip read the CCI period or in Long the cross chain interoperability protocol lead so it's a standard for the off-chain data lookup uh with the rise of the layer 2 Solutions on ethereum uh it's an it's important that the ens can provide uh resolutions resolution to uh to the sorry the resolution services for across uh entire ecosystem so um what we do is basically we are using ccip reads to to allow the retrieve the data from the off chain or the the layer twos just like this includes like like polygon uh I don't know like the bass starkware and optimism arbitrum like many more so uh as you see here like there are some examples the the users are looking for and I like the ens names by the way as you can see like none of them are the dot eth because I will explain in the the next slide like how is it possible uh so uh with the CCI period protocol you will be able to query the other uh either the off chain or the other Layer Two uh systems to see if there's any uh Records belong to them are available and it will retrieve to the L1 and you through the L1 and you will be able to do you use it do this this information sorry and uh next uh finally we have the DNS stack it's a protocol that allows you to uh import your traditional domains into ens so yeah basically you are able to use the like any domain that you already have as an identity in the web2 world like.com dot id.xyz so uh as you see in the images like there are like pretty cool use cases so the coinbase uses that to issue your subdomain and they actually combine a couple of features here so they use this DNS sect to use their traditional domain name CV ID as an ens name and then they are using the CCI period to the issue the sub-domest freely for you uh so yeah this means that you can bring your existing identity to the ens world and uh on the on the right side there is also like lens XYZ and RJ XYZ while there as far as I know maybe they are not using the CCI period but yeah like this is how basically they managed to get the XYZ domain to the ens by the DNS section uh each of these tools plays a crucial role uh in the ens Integrations because basically they are just like a Lego like whatever the you know like the need of your the platform or your project you can basically use all of this uh Integrations and combine them for for uh for your project so you can issue free sub domains you can use your traditional domains and yeah then for you like for your use is going to be much more easier to interact with it uh now that we have discussed what is DNS we have discussed the the concept of the battery profile separately and now let's explore like how we actually combine all of these uh these two concepts and as we discussed uh uh the ens is a decentralized naming system and it Maps the human readable names to the the machine readable identifiers and in the context of virtual profiles these identifiers is basically like the public case associated with the other blockchain addresses or the metadata that you have already when you register an ens name with like through our ins EMS manager you are able to put all these profile information uh and you basically you will create your profiles or the web 3 web 3 space this integration of ens and web2 profiles makes the interaction in the webpray is much more easier and user friendly so whenever you connect or interact with some decentralized application it really is all the information from the from the ens uh but the integration po goes beyond convenience it also enhances the security and the Privacy uh for your web3 profile so uh because the ens is at a centralized system it it's not controlled by any single item a single entity you basically control everything by yourself and um uh with the new manager interacting with your the three profiles is much more easier so our amazing front-end team make like tremendous work here so it's much more intuitive uh not it doesn't look like just a domain name like you know when you go to your profile you will see every everything in every aspect of your profile so you'll be able to manage change edit uh like I definitely suggest you to check it out uh the future of ens and the web oh sorry yeah the feature of viennas and the the web3 profile is bright so actually sorry first I need to talk about this I forget about that sorry yeah so like there's a thing that like how we're going to implement the ens profiles into our dubs uh like uh I was giving a lot of workshops about that uh you know because the people are thinking that like it's super complicated no it's not like it's super super easy like when you have your decentralized application I I don't know like for the basic implementations it's just like maybe at most three or four line of code so for that I just prepared some boilerplate for you to check in your the favorite programming languages so you can go and check like how easy to interact with the EMS and yeah what I was saying so the feature of DNS and the web 3 profiles are bright I believe at least so the S3 as the battery space continues to grow and the evil these Concepts will play a crucial role because of like how they are managed by us and I'm excited to to see uh when I mean I'm excited to see all these the improvements and the changes and what the future holds for us so thank you for your time and I hope this presentation has given you a deeper understanding about the the concept of the web 3 profiles and the ens itself so uh yeah I'm now open to any sort of questions no questions yeah so um I'll do it again but I think everyone eager so the the question is around privacy right so all this looks like I mean it's it's amazing but for me what is this is like the missing link right maybe I don't want everything to be public maybe I don't want to show everything so what is your approach under thanks so so basically uh like ens itself that does provide all this you know like the usury interface and the ux and you know everything all the features so like it's an open protocol so we are happy you know for the for the other projects you know like develop on top of this so basically what can do is they can encrypt all this information they can create a you know like encrypted resolver uh the the resolver that you know keeps your private data and basically you know like share share this information with the the other decentralized applications by the permission of the user so it's completely open and if anybody interested with that we'd like to hear about it and we definitely support hello uh so here yeah it's hard to see like so what is the end goal for ens is it more features is it more Integrations is it both is it neither I'm sorry I'm still looking for you here oh yeah finally so the thing is uh yeah of course like the integration is really important for us because like in ecosystem like there are a lot of aspects of the things and the use cases so we want to we want to be sure that you know like the implementing ens much be sorry like must be a really seamless you know you shouldn't really think about like how complicated it is and Etc and also uh we are not just you know like staying in L1 uh we are you know like trying developing the solutions that you know expand to the LT like layer tools as I mentioned in the presentation so this is also our other goal and another thing is like we are trying to make it like make everything basically much more cheaper or if possible uh regardless So currently like in the in the presentation on a couple of places I uh intentional right that the Godzilla soon Gaza soon so like for example we are working on the gaza's DNS SEC uh feature so because the the nature of the DNS tag when you try to do this verification on chain it's so expensive and the people are asking you know like okay they're gonna do that but is it normal that you know like these gas prices are too high so we are trying to tackle with this with this issue by the power of the the CCI period and you'll be able to let's say the import your DNS uh DNS domain as an ens name without paying anything or the same for the subdomains so like the projects and like projects and people were asking us you know like I want to create subdomains for my users or some some use cases but you know like issuing a subdomain all the time as uh hard because of the the you know the gas prices sometimes they are low affordable sometimes they are really high so it's just made it's unusable and this is why we came up with the CCI period solution and used it to sort so the the other projects can just go and use it and issue a free subdomain for their users or almost free if they use the layer two solutions so yeah basically these are the aims at the stage we are going with what is the best way for enes to uh acquire the echo like uh audience like be it adapts through depths or through say corporate like with Facebook will integrate name system in its own or it will be through other blockchains say polygon will implement it or what's the original of that say how you want to expose the adoption of finesse which ways of which delivery channels and actually sorry I have the second question uh does it trade in contexts like can I sell something for money uh what do you mean by like uh can I sell something say yeah yeah sorry I think I didn't understand the question many people by the means just to sell them oh so you mean the squatting yes oh yeah like uh uh I mean that's some sort of problem but also like for some people it's controversial so uh basically like one of the reasons that you know we never think that ens is going to be you know like your permanent ID so you will be able to rent for for an extended time uh like one of the reason is of course this so you know like anybody because anybody can just reserve a name and you know just sit on it to wait to you know like sell it but apart from that uh we don't have any change or I think we won't have any change to the the to this economics in the ens as I know and for the first question uh can you remind me again your first question yeah how what's your plan of exposure like do you plan to do it through depths or through people retail corporates like other blockchains what what's your vision here so like basically we are helping like uh whoever wants to implement ens and you know like ask us about to you know like how to take all the the you know like the implementations like or if there's any idea we are happy to discuss about it so uh for the adoption what we do basically we try to increase our Integrations so as I mean here we are going around and you know like speak with the people trying to tell like it's super easy to implement and talking with the projects products uh if they are you know like uh interested with the you know like issuing and sometimes they are asking us and they said you know like we have some idea with you know like if we can issue a sub domain for users and we want to use with this and this and this use case it helps us to see you know like what is the missing piece and we are just the changing our aim to you know like to to fill that Gap so basically it's hi uh I have one question have you maybe I'm not that familiar with ens but have you maybe uh as an ins project have you maybe uh been thinking about using existing DNS infrastructure uh to address addresses similar to how IP NS interplanetary name system does it so basically that you set your uh like text records and point it to your ethereum address to reuse the existing DNS infrastructure instead of just building on chain that way you can also become gasless so the thing is like the the from the dnsic perspective it works a little bit differently like we still keep everything in you know like all the information on chain the only difference is we just verify the ownership of the traditional domains so apart from that there is no difference I think so I think there is not any no question all right if not oh yeah it's already done so thank you so much [Applause]
