## Description

This workshop covers the Filecoin Onchain Cloud vision and two partner offerings—Lighthouse and Akave—for builders who need decentralized storage that feels like modern cloud. Filecoin’s stack is evolving from IPFS and cold storage to a programmable “onchain cloud” spanning storage, retrieval (Filecoin Beam CDN), compute and AI infra, and DePIN, all accessible from a JavaScript/TypeScript client SDK (Synapse). Payments are stabilized via USDFC (a Filecoin-native stablecoin), with optional native FIL, and storage proofs remain backed by Filecoin’s proof layer. Developers can use warm object storage, stable pricing, and verifiable CIDs, and can request early access ahead of the official launch at Devconnect.

Lighthouse presents “pay once, store forever” using an endowment pool tied to DeFi yields that perpetually renews Filecoin deals. Its SDK unifies upload, retrieval, and BLS threshold encryption–based access control, enabling token-gated data and private sharing. A new feature, DataCoin (1mb.io), lets creators tokenize datasets and build apps that share revenue with data generators. Akave targets adoption with S3-compatible endpoints and zero egress fees: migrate with rclone, keep existing code, and get client-side encryption plus Reed–Solomon erasure coding across decentralized nodes for redundancy and recovery.
