## Description

Building products for users is hard. It's even harder if you assume you know everything about the user and think you know exactly what they want. Building great products and features often takes multiple iterations, and for most projects, you don't have the time or money to get it wrong over and over again. One of the most common mistakes in web3, and in-particular DeFi, is designing the user facing product around the technical details and capabilities of the protocol(s), instead of understanding what you're users actually want, and what job they want to get done. In this talk, we will talk about the different ways you can go from assumptions you hold to testing your theories and early designs, and how to ask the right questions. In particular, we will focus on the Jobs to be Done framework, how you can convert your user needs into jobs, and how you can design the right tools to get the job done. By the end of the talk, the hope is that we as an industry will be better placed to build better user facing products with hugely better UX than we have today - something web3 and crypto desperetly needs more than almost anything else.

CEO
Oasis.app
Product focused CEO with a passion for building products users want. Starting working in web3 and DeFi in early 2018 when I joined MakerDAO as their first Product Manager, focusing on the Web UIs and Multi-Collateral Dai version of the Maker Protocol. Now leading Oasis.app where we build on top of Maker and other DeFi Protocols. With previous product and founder experience in fintech and traditional finance prior to my crypto journey, I bring a large amount of experience of building products and features that users love, and have learnt what works and what doesn't when it comes to understanding what users really want, and how to discover it.
