## Description

In this fireside chat, Sergey Nazarov, Co-founder of Chainlink, and Kartik Talwar, Co-founder of ETHGlobal, discuss the evolution and institutional adoption of DeFi, focusing on the expanding role of oracles, cross-chain interoperability, and compliance. Sergey explains how oracles have evolved from simple data feeds to encompass cross-chain bridges, identity, and AI oracles, culminating in the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) and CCIP (Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol).

He emphasizes the necessity of robust, secure, and compliant infrastructure for institutional capital to enter DeFi, highlighting Chainlink's dominance in securing DeFi protocols and enabling programmable token transfers. The conversation covers the importance of liquidity, the integration of stablecoins and CBDCs, the abstraction of user experience, and the critical mass of composable building blocks on Ethereum. Sergey offers advice for institutions entering DeFi: prioritize security, compliance, and cross-chain connectivity, and leverage established standards and infrastructure like Chainlink. He predicts rapid growth in on-chain assets, especially RWAs, as institutional adoption accelerates.
