Matt Snow (1inch) outlines three swapping rails: Classic aggregation (AMM/PMM) that routes and splits orders across ~400 liquidity sources to maximize output while minimizing gas; Fusion, an intent-based, gasless Dutch-auction system where professional “resolvers” compete to fill signed user orders (often above on-chain market rates); and Fusion+, which extends Fusion cross-chain using hash time-locked contracts (HTLCs) for trustless escrow on source and destination chains with fallback if a resolver fails. Classic 1inch can even route purely through Uniswap more gas-efficiently than Uniswap’s own router, while Fusion lets resolvers source liquidity anywhere (CEX/DEX/off-chain/cross-chain) and batch partial fills.

For developers, 1inch offers a dev portal (API keys, docs, Swagger), SDKs (TypeScript/Go), and a deployable proxy (e.g., on Vercel) to protect API keys from front-end calls. Bounties include: non-EVM Fusion+ extensions (build HTLC escrows on an EVM + a non-EVM chain and demonstrate deposits/withdrawals), Limit Order Protocol extensions (advanced triggers and pre/post interactions), and API usage (balances, spot prices, portfolio). 1inch recently brought Fusion/Fusion+ to Solana, signaling a broader non-EVM push and framing Fusion+ as a UX-simple, rate-optimized, and trustless alternative to traditional bridges.
