Building with Hyperlane's Interoperability Framework I Eda Akturk
Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 12:00 AM
Eda Akturk from Abacus Works presents an overview of Hyperlane, a permissionless interoperability framework for building cross-chain applications in the multi-chain blockchain ecosystem. She explains the challenges of fragmented assets and disconnected apps across Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks, and how Hyperlane addresses these with open-source tools for cross-chain communication, modular security via Interchain Security Modules (ISMs), and flexible relayer infrastructure. Hyperlane supports over 150 chains, enabling developers to build DeFi, asset transfer, and cross-chain execution apps. Key features include Hyperlane Warp Routes for asset bridging (including ERC20, ERC721, EVM, and SVM chains), Warp Routes 2.0 for multi-origin/destination and rebalancing, and Interchain Accounts for cross-chain contract calls. Eda highlights the ISM marketplace, community contributions, and a case study (Drum Super Swaps) leveraging Hyperlane’s stack. She concludes with hackathon support details and a live demo of deploying Warp Routes using the Hyperlane CLI and docs. 00:00 Introduction 00:38 About Eda Akturk & Abacus Works 01:17 Blockchain Ecosystem & Multi-Chain Challenges 03:14 The Need for Interoperability 03:35 What is Hyperlane? 04:22 Permissionless & Modular Security Explained 05:46 Interchain Security Modules (ISMs) 06:42 Hyperlane Architecture Overview 07:24 Mailbox Contracts & Relayer Component 08:52 Hyperlane Features & Tools 09:12 Hyperlane Warp Routes for Asset Transfers 11:16 Warp Routes 2.0 & Multi-Chain Rebalancing 12:59 Interchain Accounts Overview 14:20 ISM Marketplace & Community Contributions 15:24 Case Study: Drum Super Swaps 17:09 Hackathon Support & Resources 18:51 Hyperlane vs. Other Interop Protocols 19:14 Live Demo: Deploying Warp Routes 22:39 Hyperlane Documentation & Further Resources 23:22 Closing Remarks _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇺🇸 *ETHGlobal New York* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal New York, a 3-day hackathon held August 15-17, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem!
