Felipe Cevallos from Flow Foundation presents two key upgrades in the Flow Forte network update—Scheduled Transactions and Flow Actions. Scheduled Transactions function like onchain cron jobs, allowing automated, recurring, or time-specific transactions without external servers or third-party tools. Felipe demonstrates this through a simple counter contract that auto-increments on a timer, showing how it can enable subscription payments, staking rewards, or portfolio rebalancing entirely onchain. These transactions are extremely cost-efficient, decentralized, and reliable, eliminating offchain dependency for scheduling tasks. He then introduces Flow Actions, a framework of five DeFi primitives—source, sink, swap, flasher, and price oracle—that allow complex DeFi operations within a single Cadence transaction. Felipe’s live demo automates a restaking flow, harvesting rewards, swapping assets, and restaking LP tokens in one atomic step. By combining Scheduled Transactions with Flow Actions, developers can create automated DeFi systems that continuously reinvest or rebalance portfolios with precise access control and optimized efficiency.
