In this workshop at ETHGlobal Lisbon 2026, Angela Ocando from Uniswap Labs and Ivan Volovyk, a Uniswap Foundation ambassador, show hackers how to navigate the new Uniswap stack. Angela frames Uniswap as one of the largest decentralized exchanges in the world (over $4.3 trillion in cumulative volume, more than 2.7 billion trades, and over 2 million assets), and a strong option for anyone building a fintech or finance application on chain. Showing the original 2018 interface as inspiration, she notes many protocols began as a hackathon MVP. She explains the stack is more than the AMM: it spans the V2, V3, and V4 protocol versions (V3 introduced concentrated liquidity so LPs can add liquidity in a chosen price range, V4 introduced a singleton pool architecture and hooks for attaching custom logic to pool actions), plus Uniswap X (an intent-based protocol where users sign intents and fillers, including 25+ private market makers, compete to execute large swaps at the best price), the CCA or continuous clearing auction (a token launchpad offering fair-price launches), the Uniswap API (routing, quotes, and execution), and Uniswap AI skills for interacting with the stack in natural language. Angela goes deeper on V4 hooks, which run optional custom logic via before and after flags on actions like initialize, add and remove liquidity, swap, and donate (enabling donations, KYC, and dynamic fees), pointing to a GitHub template. She explains the Uniswap API taps deep aggregated liquidity across Uniswap classic (the AMM) and Uniswap X, is claimable with an API key at developers.uniswap.org, and uses permit-based approvals for security. She lays out the two hackathon tracks: best Uniswap API integration from scratch (requiring a feedback MD file so the team can improve the product) and a continuity track for the best Uniswap stack contribution, both centered on honest developer feedback.
