Nice full house. So good evening everyone and welcome to the very first onchain s day. First off uh really thank you everyone for uh making time to be here on a Monday evening. We know Mondays are really precious and the fact that you guys showed up says a lot about uh the spirit that's building up here in Belgium about web 3. For those who don't know me yet, I'm Ja or XYZ if you know me from uh those circles.
But yeah, I'm a part of the team behind ETH Belgium. Before going in uh further, a quick rundown of the history of where it all began. I'm passing the mic to Jill. Hello. Hello.
Yeah. So, my my name is uh Jill. Um I'm also an entrepreneur from Belgium uh active in the space. Um and yeah the story how did it start? We we met each other at etc in Brussels this last year.
Um where where we were talking uh on a party after the conference like um yeah that we realized that Belgium has a lot of talent in the in the web three space and uh no real place to really meet collaborate that it's all still quite under the radar and that's something we want to to solve with Eat Belgium. Um so that led to eat entert [Music] um was yeah first a small gathering. Um shout out to everyone who was there. Um but we realized in in Defcon uh in Bangkok that um focusing on one city is not the way to go if you want to go bigger and and build bridges with with international Ethereum um communities and the Ethereum Foundation. So we decided to to go to uh the name Eat Belgium.
So that's uh so that's it Belgium is a a community for builders uh researchers creators and explorers uh where we're about connecting people who aren't just talking about web 3 but um who are actually building uh and shaping it. So, so yeah, that's tonight is is exactly exactly about that. Um, and it's it's a night for high senior conversation, meeting sharp minds, uh, and maybe sparking new ideas that carry on way beyond tonight. So, I'm passing the mic back to Jeff for explaining what's what's up for tonight. Yep.
Thank you. So uh as it goes right now you're going to hear a series of lightning talks. So they're like very fast no fluff high impact talks. So these speakers uh who are going to be presenting right now are people who are doing serious work in the space with DeFi ZK wallet security decentralized creativity and everything. So each specific shot is each talk is very short.
So, it's going to be around 9 minutes each and the goal isn't to lecture you or drown you into countless slides, but it's to spark ideas or uh yeah, start conversations around it. So, it's going to be something fresh to think about or uh a new project you might want to jam on after this. So, after the talks, we'll uh roll outside into the main area. That's the chill part. That's the part everyone's waiting for.
drinks, snacks, good music, and even better conversations. So, uh yeah, quick word about that. The real magic usually happens in those casual moments we'll have. So, don't be shy to go up to people uh you don't know, say hi, see where it leads to, and uh yeah, that's how communities are built. So, with that, let's kick things off.
