High Performance Apps with State Channels | Louis Bellet at Pragma Taipei 2025

Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 12:00 AM

Louis Bellet explores how state channels can revolutionize high-performance decentralized applications (DApps) in this technical deep dive. Learn how Nitro and Nitrolite enable instant, fee-less off-chain transactions while maintaining blockchain security. Discover the challenges of designing peer-to-peer state channel networks, the importance of standardization (ERC-7824), and real-world use cases like high-speed trading and multiplayer gaming. This talk is essential for developers building scalable Web3 applications that demand low latency and high throughput beyond traditional L1/L2 limitations. 00:00 - Introduction: State Channels for Web3 Scaling 01:13 - Ethereum's Compute Limitations (350k MIPS vs. Traditional CPUs) 05:50 - Global Compute Demand vs. Blockchain Capacity 06:34 - State Channel History: From Bitcoin Lightning to ERC-7824 10:09 - How State Channels Enable Instant Off-Chain Transactions 11:57 - Horizontal Scaling Benefits and Existing Use Cases (Perp DEXs) 13:28 - Practical Challenges: Off-Chain Protocol Design 14:12 - Cross-Chain Standardization Pain Points 15:56 - Introducing Nitrolite: Simplified State Channel Framework 17:53 - Developer Tools: TypeScript/Go SDKs and RPC Standardization 18:43 - Architecture: Virtual Ledger via Teleport Mesh Network 20:38 - Use Cases: Real-Time Gaming and High-Speed Trading 21:29 - Client-Server Integration with Blockchain Abstraction 22:16 - Getting Started with Nitrolite and ERC-7824 Resources _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇹🇼 *Pragma Taipei* Pragma Taipei 2025 was held on April 3rd at POPOP in Taipei, Taiwan and was an in-person summit for builders and leaders in the web3 ecosystem.
