Decentralized Music with Stems Protocol

Ethereum DenverSat, Oct 7, 2023, 12:00 AM

A description of the Stems protocol, which allows artists to deploy stem layer audio files (e.g. vocal, drum, synth, etc.) as NFTs to the blockchain. Those stems are then available to other artists to use to make music as long as they agree to the terms set by the original artist on royalty splits. This is possible thanks to a flexible meta-data standard for both stems and songs, incorporating a split address for royalty revenue routing, a broad legal contract on IP rights stored in storage that is governed by the DAO, and information on the audio file itself such as key, bpm and ISRC code. Speaker: Haitham Mengad - Co-founder of StemsDAO, Co-founder/ CEO of Stems Labs StemsDAO I'm the Co-founder and CEO of Stems Labs, the main contributor to StemsDAO. I was born and raised in Morocco and moved to the US as a teenager to study engineering. Since then I have been consistently involved in start-ups, venture capital and open source with an expanding focus on blockchain technology since 2018 (Cosmos, Tendermint, CeLo). In early 2022, I left the centralized world behind and made the full jump to web3 after co-founding Stems Labs, a US based company to support StemsDAO. https://twitter.com/stemsdao
