uh hello so my name is Daniel um I work with a portal Network team and I have my own project with portal net and today I'll try to tell you about first of all portal Network because not that much people know about that so I'm here to rectify that and at the end I will talk a little bit about my own project or the projects so who am I why why I'm talking to hear about that um I'm ex fluffy developer fluffy is one of the clients for portal Network um also I'm a developer of my own client so I know this stuff quite well I have 18 years of missing around with programming and everything else and I have master's degree in electronics engineering that will be you know the relevance of this fact will be apparent in the end um yeah by the way uh if you have any kind of questions about portal Network about um oh here is it about anything I will be talking about please uh don't hesitate to ask right away uh and just don't wait till the end so uh what is Portal network uh portal network is a just simple it's best po peer-to-peer network uh it's actually free Networks um and the count is growing um strange it's old version okay uh and it's built on top of uh dq5 protocol um which you might be familiar with but we have our kind of own extensions of top on top of it um u i will address the most popular questions at this point is uh why you know not just use a bit torrent and be done with it uh uh all all the aners all the answers to this question come down to two simple facts uh first is uh uh we want our data to be verifiably anchored to the canonical data so when you access this data you can be sure that you know this is uh what is going on on on the main net and there are also different kinds of attacks uh and that you know particular Network are vulnerable to and uh we're trying to mitigate them uh using different approaches for each of the different uh networks so that's why we need to build our own network so we can have this flexibility to you know uh do what we need in each uh specific case uh to me iate attacks uh yeah so our Network as I was telling our Network consists of uh three three sub networks uh first one I think it's the most interesting for most of you right now it's a history Network it's basically chain history it's headers and block bodies basically historical data it's uh production R and been for quite some time at this point and uh what we trying to you know uh evangelize to to propagate is uh it can be used for for Force so if you kind of developer of uh you know stateless clients or if you're interested in for Force you should definitely uh try to look at it at the end I will give our Discord and other contact in force so you can join you can ask questions and yeah uh yeah just to emphasize uh so if you somehow relate to 44s come to our Discord uh ask questions we are interested and we are waiting for you we are kind of that that's why we created it um uh next is a bon Network it's uh another of the sub networks and it's allow it allows us to follow basically head of the of the chain it's mostly complete but there are some work to do yet and we expect it to be ready by July or maybe August I I would say it's August maybe September um uh next network is a state network uh it's the most actively developed right now and uh one of the kind of key to all of this it um allows um clients to access uh account and contract data um it's actively developed and there are a lot of uh things that we have to figure out but we're working on it uh and to be honest uh in March or in April uh we we've been able to execute some of the ethereum calls on this network so it's kind of kind of ready but uh a lot of things to figure out still uh we expect to deliver it in kind of public batt production in by the Defcon 2024 so you know don't miss it next I would like to talk to talk to you about existing clients for this portal Network there are four uh first and the main one is TR it's written and rust it's uh kind of what started all this um so if if you want kind of canonical client go for Trini and you will not regret it uh ultral light is a jazz client it's kind of experimental uh they forward development a lot uh they try new different stuff and if you try to do something in browser probably take a look at ultra light uh fluffy is the one I was working on it's rated in n and they have kind of infrastructure of Their Own they have a lot of projects and this client is tightly integrated with it but it's uh it's small it's quick and it compiles to C code and you can try that too and the last one uh was announced recently Shu it it's written in go so take a look at that uh to I can't tell that much about that but I know they actively developing it and yeah take a look and yeah know yeah what what is missing from this list of uh good languages is z uh so that's why I created my own client Li portal net it's written in dig uh you know because everything should be written in dig uh uh my goals for this client uh is to be minimal so bring you you have to bring your own storage you have to bring your own network and when Loop so this is going want to be a library that you can uh in you know integrate into your own application so if you building like I don't know mobile phone application or I don't know some kind of uh client you can just uh link uh Li portal net and like just just like any regular C library and use it and you probably already have storage you'll probably already have your own network stack and when Loop in your application so that's why uh my client doesn't have this you have to you know integrate into your own app um it's also planned to be lightweight my target platform is sp52 S3 it's a microcontroller it's Wi-Fi enabled and I will talk about that a little bit later uh why is you know did this kind of low end why microc why microcontroller uh because uh the whole goal of portal sorry Network I'm Sting the whole goal goal of portal network is uh to kind of democratize access to ethereum data so right now you have to spin up the full Noe and it can be costly complicated and the reason why we're doing portal network is to have as lighter weight clients as lighter weight access as possible uh so I'm trying to go to the kind of extreme of that and my plan is to allow you to access the data data from microcontroller using microcontroller and yes uh the last goal as I was already telling to you about it should be embeddable so it's not a standalone application it's a library and you can link you can compile it to static library or you can compile it this uh Dynamic library and Link application to it so it doesn't have a lot of things that your application has already you know have so you you should uh you should uh integrated into your application um so my goal for this client is to be everywhere because it's lightweight it's simple so phones laptops obviously but uh my personal goal is to have it uh on Wii enabled microcontrollers uh thisp it has uh Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 it has two cores uh to MHz so it's not comparable to any modern phones or laptops and just 8 megabytes of RAM and SD card for storage uh also I I've done experiments with this board and uh I'm also using I'm not using I'm trying different cryptographic processors because cryp elliptic cryptography that we using is uh is kind of heavy for this processor so I'm using separate uh chip for doing elliptic cryptography uh that that is the state for now uh also I have kind of another project uh which started all that it's called e portal D and it's basically R&D platform fully portal net it it's arong client it's written in nlong and it's most actively actively developed right now it's kind of connect to network uh and do do some stuff it's yeah it's wrl and elixir so if you alexir long developer you you can try it and uh my goal for this client is kind of have Tic Tac model like Intel has with their processors so I develop feature in E portal D so it will be the first to receive it and then I transfer this feature to Li portal net uh so if you if you want to follow my development you know the Forefront of my development take a look at e portal d uh yeah and that's uh that's basically it so here are some links e portal net is our main website for for the whole project uh here is all C code and link to join our Discord uh don't hesitate join ask questions we are welcome everyone and uh in the end L links to my project so you can take a look at portal net and the portal e portal D if if you're interested yeah that that's it yeah thank you so do you have uh questions I guess not all right questions all right okay uhuh here to save the day uh just wait for the mic for a second it's for the recording for later uh thanks a lot uh for explanation my name is Ian uh and if I got you correct the purpose of portal network is to bring uh an access to ethereum network and make it uh kind easier yes and more uh just see lighter yes yes correct uh the issue uh I start with talking about ethereum network is that uh the network is existing two states you know like final States oh sorry head States the last block and uh like final protest States the L processed block which one Follow You Follow uh we follow both and why that's why we have uh history and beon networks so to access one part you need history Network to access the head State you need beon Network and uh is it possible to uh maybe run smart contracts uh using portal network uh not yet but it's it's going it's it's going to be that that's that's kind of the plan yeah by the way uh we also have two of my colleagues from uh that are working on this project too it's agyan and milish so yeah you can you can catch them after after the talk and ask more detailed questions for for instance milish is working on integrating uh veral into Portal Network thanks yeah question all right yeah okay so one yeah one moment uh for the smart contracts uh it's going to be executed on the state Network and state network is kind of in the active development stage right now so by defon it should be Pro probably should be possible but yeah go to you get it up for Daniel [Applause]
