Ledger Tracks I Etienne Waldron

Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 12:00 AM

This Ledger conference session, led by developer advocates Etienne Waldron, introduces Ledger’s mission to secure Web3 through hardware wallets and new initiatives. The focus is on three hackathon tracks: Clear Signing, Hardware Integrations, and Documentation. Clear Signing addresses the risks of blind signing by enabling human-readable, transparent transaction details using JSON files, which developers can create and submit for bounties and prizes like the Ledger Flex. The session demonstrates the JSON creation tool, explains the review process, and encourages improvements to the tool. The Hardware Integration track invites developers to use the new Device Management Kit for integrating Ledger devices with popular Ethereum libraries or building new apps. The Documentation track seeks contributions to enhance Ledger’s developer resources. Q&A covers review times, device access, and compatibility, emphasizing that clear signing works on all Ledger devices, with the best experience on newer models. 00:00 Introduction 00:26 About Ledger and Device Security 01:19 Ledger Flex and New Features 01:49 Blind Signing vs. Clear Signing 02:35 Clear Signing Track Overview 03:19 Clear Signing Bounties and Example Flow 04:01 Technical Details of Clear Signing 04:42 Clear Signing Implementation Steps 06:17 JSON File Structure and Usage 07:02 Demo: Creating a Clear Signing JSON File 08:02 Improving the JSON Creation Tool 08:51 Registry and Submission Process 09:17 Hardware Integrations Track 10:00 Device Management Kit and Integration Ideas 10:44 Documentation Track 11:05 Useful Links and Closing 11:41 Q&A: Review Time, Device Access, Compatibility 13:06 Q&A: Submitting JSON for Any Contract, Closing Remarks _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇫🇷 *ETHGlobal Cannes* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal Cannes, a 3-day hackathon held July 4-6, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem!
