Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 12:00 AM

Jeff Lau, co-founder of Ethereum Name Service (ENS), unveils the future of decentralized identity with Namechain - ENS's new ZK-rollup L2 solution. Discover how programmable cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs will transform ENS names into verified credentials for social media, employment verification, and spoof prevention. Learn about ENS v2's vision to move beyond simple naming into portable identity, enabling trustless verification of Twitter, GitHub, and real-world credentials directly on-chain. Essential viewing for developers building identity solutions, wallet providers, and anyone interested in the intersection of naming systems and decentralized identity. 00:00 - Introduction: ENS as Foundation for Decentralized Identity 01:34 - Core ENS Principles: Decentralized & Permissionless Naming 02:58 - The Hex Address Problem: Why Names Matter 03:39 - ENS Adoption: 40M Names Created 04:19 - Namechain: ENS's ZK-Rollup L2 Solution 05:35 - Programmable Cryptography Explained 06:16 - How ZK Proofs Enable Private Verification 07:27 - Evolution of ZK Tech (2017-2025) 08:37 - Existing ZK Identity Projects (zkEmail, TLSnotary) 09:16 - ENS + ZK = Verified Credentials 10:27 - Current Primary Name System (Two-Way Linking) 11:34 - Future: ZK-Verified Social Media Records 12:42 - Use Case 1: Spoof Prevention for Payments 13:43 - Use Case 2: Enhanced Sybil Resistance 14:20 - Use Case 3: Private Employment Verification 15:25 - Use Case 4: Asset Proofs Without Disclosure 16:02 - Portable Reputation Across Dapps 17:19 - ENS Evolution: From Names to Identity (2017-2025) 18:27 - Business Applications: Verified Reviews 19:03 - Closing Vision: Identity as the Destination _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇹🇼 *Pragma Taipei* Pragma Taipei 2025 was held on April 3rd at POPOP in Taipei, Taiwan and was an in-person summit for builders and leaders in the web3 ecosystem.
