In this high-impact talk at Pragma Singapore 2024, Mike Cahill, founder of Duoro Labs and a core contributor to the Pyth Network, breaks down how we can supercharge DeFi infrastructure to outperform traditional finance (TradFi) by improving cost, speed, and trust. Mike explores why DeFi struggles to compete with TradFi UX, how Pyth’s HiFi data oracle architecture changes the game, and what it means for the future of blockchain applications. Learn how Pyth price feeds, entropy for randomness, and Express Relay for MEV protection are already powering 400+ dApps across 80+ chains, enabling fast, low-cost, and trustworthy on-chain finance. 00:00 Intro and “Why DeFi Sucks” Compared to TradFi 01:29 TradFi Speed, Cost, and Trust Advantage 02:36 Why New Tech Adoption Requires Parity with Incumbents 03:39 Amazon vs Sears: Web Speed Parallels Blockchain Evolution 05:14 Blockchain’s Innovation: Programmatic Trust 06:26 From DeFi Summer to Modern Blockchains 08:04 Pyth Network: Boosting DeFi Infrastructure 08:34 Price Feeds: Solving the Oracle Problem with Speed 10:06 How Pyth Sources Institutional-Grade Market Data 11:04 PythNet: Data Aggregation & Multi-Chain Distribution 12:08 Monetizing Oracle Data Across 80+ Blockchains 13:12 Entropy: Verifiable On-Chain Randomness 14:30 Express Relay: Solving the MEV Problem 15:42 Instant Access to Liquidation & Searchers Network 16:44 Adoption: Pyth Powers 60% of On-Chain Derivatives 17:26 Closing: Beating TradFi with Superior DeFi Infrastructure _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇸🇬 *Pragma Singapore* Pragma Singapore 2024 was a special gathering of founders and builders that took place September 19, 2024 at the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore.
