hello there uh my name is Ben I am with Thrive protocol uh and I'm going to talk to you today about the importance of finding balance between building on Ching reputation and at the same time respecting uh individual privacy and freedom um you know as we go further and further into this web three world where uh you know we talk a lot about radical transparency uh there is kind of this interesting uh you know sort of balance that needs to be found between uh transparency and privacy uh you know because everything on chain is available to anybody on the internet anywhere around the world um you know and that is what we derive our U you know sort of validation and truth from U there's great opportunities for a mutable uh you know ad stations impact certificates hypers certs various different ways of building onchain reputation which are increasingly becoming an important part of uh you know Grant ecosystems hiring flows any number of other things um but the challenge that comes along with that is that many of us in this space are also quite interested in um you know being anonomous or having uh the ability to uh you know sort of transcend the sort of more traditional sense of identity in the uh Legacy world and focus on what we can do uh you know building a a new form of reputation in this new world together uh and I think this is actually particularly important as many of our companies and organizations start adopting what you could call a web 3 CRM or or a customer relationship management database uh you know we now have these amazing tools that can help segment our uh Community into various different subsets based on onchain activity uh what people hold in their wallets um and you know that can be very helpful and useful and can you know drive more uh you know sort of strategic messaging or marketing to the right people uh the flip side of that is that it can be pretty creepy uh you know as we are sort of moving away from the world of Facebook and Facebook pixels and and sort of that kind of directed uh advertising that feels like it follows you around the internet um there's actually now the potential that we go even further down that road with web3 crms um and I think you know for any of us who are interested in the topics and are sort of at the the Forefront of this conversation we have an opportunity and perhaps even a responsibility to help people navigate that strategically um you know with some uh you know forethought and uh and some intentionality you can help people know uh that you know they should have a wallet that they're using for building onchain reputation perhaps another wallet or even a series of wallets that they use for other purposes um you know so that you can be intentional about what uh you know goes into your onchain reputation what doesn't not um letting people know and being very transparent about what tools you're using on your own website in your own organization um also very important um but at the end of the day I think the the kind of the critical piece here is just being uh you know very thoughtful about the approach that we're taking uh you know to this kind of work um are we really building the kind of world that we want to see uh that respects privacy and freedom uh or we actually opening the door to you know some unintended consequences and maybe I'll leave you with that um you know really think about how your tools in the wrong hands uh could be used in all kinds of creepy ways right um you know especially as you know many of us are dependent on VC funding um you know there's uh you know a real push to help figure out how to monetize uh and you know very quickly your community could also become the product that is being sold um you know so how do you ensure that uh you know that what you're building actually contributes to making the world a a more secure your better place um and also gives people the opportunity to to build on chain reputation in in ways that um you know could actually be very positive you know for the new kind of world that we're trying to build so anyway that's me that's my time thanks for thinking about these important topics and talking about them uh if you recognize what this movie is in my background uh please don't hesitate to reach out to me on Twitter at benwest uh and let me know okay thanks a lot cheers byebye
