The Sovereign Cloud is Coming I Sarah Thiam

Sun, Nov 2, 2025, 12:00 AM

Sarah Thiam, founder of PhilB and former Protocol Labs developer experience lead, introduces the upcoming Filecoin Onchain Cloud, a sovereign, decentralized cloud infrastructure built on the Filecoin network. Leveraging Filecoin’s established decentralized storage, cryptographic proofs (PoR, PDP), and EVM-compatible smart contract layer, the Onchain Cloud aims to provide a modular, programmable marketplace for cloud services, including storage, compute, and networking (with a working CDN, Filecoin Beam). The platform will support stablecoin payments (USDFC), SLA-native payment contracts (Filecoin Pay), and enable developers to build and deploy services easily via SDKs like Synapse. The flagship offering, Filecoin Warm Storage Service, is already live and will be fully launched at Devcon in November, with hackathons and community engagement planned. The initiative seeks to decentralize cloud control, reduce costs, and invite partners and builders to expand the ecosystem. 00:00 Introduction 00:36 About Sarah & PhilB 01:18 The Problem with Traditional Cloud 01:53 Filecoin’s Vision for the Onchain Cloud 02:52 Core Components: Storage, Compute, Network, Services 04:18 Storage Evolution & Filecoin’s Unique Position 05:17 Filecoin Virtual Machine & EVM Compatibility 05:40 Layer 2, Subnets, and Scalability 06:03 Filecoin’s Network Scale & Token Ecosystem 07:03 Onchain Cloud Architecture Overview 08:11 Recent Breakthroughs: Warm Storage, CDN, Stablecoin 09:40 Live Services & Developer Engagement 10:40 Filecoin Warm Storage Service Architecture 10:58 Getting Started & Community Involvement 11:17 Launch Timeline & How to Stay Connected 11:37 Conclusion _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇮🇳 *Pragma New Delhi* Pragma New Delhi 2025 was held on September 25th at the JW Marriott Hotel in Aerocity New Delhi and was an in-person summit for builders and leaders in the web3 ecosystem. Watch the full Pragma New Delhi YouTube Playlist here: ETHGlobal's Pragma series takes place in cities around the world, and is designed to be a different kind of event. Pragma is a one-stage conference with founders-only on stage, bringing together a small group of curated attendees and speakers to discuss the future of web3 and reflect on the past. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ✅ Follow Sarah Thiam X: https://x.com/truckerfling ✅ Follow FIL-Builders X: https://x.com/filbuilders ✅ Follow ETHGlobal X: https://x.com/ETHGlobal Warpcast: https://warpcast.com/ethglobal Website: https://ethglobal.com YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@UCfF9ZO8Ug4xk_AJd4aeT5HA _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Are you interested in Ethereum development and entrepreneurship? 👉 Sign up for the next ETHGlobal event: https://ethglobal.com/events 🎁 Get exclusive access and perks with ETHGlobal Plus! https://ethglobal.com/plus 📣 Want us to throw an event in your city?
