And who better fit to do the job than its spiritual and intellectual leader, Viktor Tron. As he pointed out, although it seems the internet of today is decentralized it is becoming more and more “platformised” with services such as Facebook and Twitter. That’s why we need a completely new paradigm shift, which has started with Bitcoin, which operationalised decentralised consensus, and has been upgraded with Ethereum’s vision of a world computer. In trying to enable this world computer, Tron explained, Swarm’s place is to provide a distributed storage solution. But the latter is not a mere product, it is infrastructure. “It is more like water pipes in the city’s water distribution system than a product,” Tron rounded up his presentation.
