How can DeFi evolve to serve billions of users without breaking the EVM gas limits? In this fireside chat, Anton Bukov, co-founder of 1inch, discusses how protocol design, O(1) complexity, and innovations like 1inch Fusion can create more scalable, non-custodial solutions. From hackathon origins to cross-chain atomic swaps, learn how architectural optimizations, precompiles, and smart-contract best practices can deliver familiar entry points for global DeFi adoption. Topics Covered: • The 1inch journey from hackathon project to DeFi aggregator • Achieving constant-time (O(1)) complexity for mass scalability • Why gas will never be “enough” and how to design around constraints • Credit card integrations for mainstream DeFi • L2 scaling solutions, cross-chain bridging, and atomic swaps • Building with self-custody in mind and the future of Fusion Plus • Stay tuned for Anton’s insights on pushing DeFi UX forward while preserving security and efficiency—plus a preview of what’s next for 1inch in the race to onboard the next wave of crypto users. 00:00 Introduction & Anton Bukov Welcome 00:54 1inch Origins as a Hackathon Project 02:14 Early DEX Aggregation & Growth 03:42 Introducing 1inch Fusion & Intent-Based Swaps 04:45 Credit Card Integration for DeFi 06:20 Designing Protocols for Gas Constraints 08:02 Billions of Wallets & O(1) Complexity 09:05 Architectural Frameworks for Efficiency 11:08 Examples of Constant-Time Algorithms 12:13 EVM Extensions & Precompiles for Layer 2 14:17 Cross-Chain Strategy & Atomic Swaps 19:27 Non-Custodial Fusion Plus & Future Plans 21:28 Closing Remarks & Thank You _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🎤 *Pragma Bankgkok* Pragma Bangkok 2024 closed out a year of exceptional Pragma events held around the world, and offered the global Web3 community a chance to hear from founders and builders as they reflect on the past, and look to the future of Web3.
