Future of Consumer Crypto with AI I Dieter Shirley

Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 12:00 AM

Dieter Shirley, creator of ERC-721 and Chief System Architect for Flow Foundation, discusses the future of consumer crypto with AI, focusing on enhancing DeFi composability and usability. He introduces "actions," standardized interfaces on Flow enabling effortless DeFi protocol integration, allowing AI to generate secure, complex transactions. Shirley demonstrates how AI can automate DeFi tasks like yield farming using Flow's Cadence language, ensuring user asset safety via transaction structure (prepare, execute, post). He unveils "agents," on-chain schedulers enabling autonomous, recurring DeFi actions without third-party reliance, MEV resistance, and non-custodial execution. Upcoming Flow upgrades will finalize these features, with beta versions available and hackathon participation encouraged. Flow supports EVM compatibility, making advanced DeFi and AI-driven workflows accessible to both developers and end-users, marking a significant step toward decentralized, user-driven crypto applications. 00:00 Introduction 00:51 Speaker Background & Flow Blockchain 02:16 Composability in Crypto: Legos vs. Home Depot 03:31 The Problem with Current DeFi Usability 04:08 Introducing Actions on Flow 04:34 Demo: AI-Generated DeFi Transactions 06:48 Cadence Transactions: Structure & Security 09:19 AI-Assisted DeFi: Safety & Assurance 11:32 Actions: AI Reasoning & Protocol Integration 12:15 Introducing Agents: On-Chain Scheduling 13:45 Agents vs. Other Scheduling Solutions 14:25 Actions & Agents: Availability and Roadmap 15:25 Flow at Hackathons & EVM Compatibility 16:30 The Future: AI, Agents, and User-Driven DeFi 16:52 Conclusion _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇺🇸 *Pragma New York* Pragma New York 2025 was held on August 14th at Vesper Events in Brooklyn, New York and was an in-person summit for builders and leaders in the web3 ecosystem.
