Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 12:00 AM

Jayant Krishnamurthy, CTO and co-founder of Pyth Network, breaks down why DeFi struggles to compete with traditional finance (TradFi) and how infrastructure improvements can bridge the gap. He compares DeFi and TradFi across speed, cost, and trust, highlighting key pain points like high gas fees, slow transactions, and security risks. Krishnamurthy also explores how Pyth Network’s solutions—such as low-latency price feeds, on-chain randomness, and MEV reduction—are paving the way for a more efficient DeFi ecosystem. Learn how better infrastructure can enable DeFi to finally rival TradFi in usability and adoption. 00:00 - Introduction 00:42 - The Problem with DeFi 01:16 - TradFi vs. DeFi Comparison 03:20 - Infrastructure as the Key 05:15 - Lessons from Past Tech Shifts 07:50 - Blockchain’s Programmable Trust 09:49 - Pyth Network’s Solutions 12:17 - High-Frequency Price Feeds 13:20 - On-Chain Randomness 15:14 - Solving MEV 18:15 - Oracles & DeFi Growth 19:52 - Future of DeFi vs. TradFi 20:19 - Conclusion _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇺🇸 *Pragma San Francisco* Pragma San Francisco 2024 was a special gathering of founders and builders that took place October 16th and 17th at The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, CA.
