Account Abstraction Panel With Yoav Weiss and Kristof Gazso I Pragma London 2024

Wed, Oct 2, 2024, 12:00 AM

Join Ethereum Foundation’s Yoav Weiss and Pimlico’s Kristof Gazso, co-authors of ERC-4337, for a deep dive into the state and future of Account Abstraction. In this panel from Pragma London 2024, moderated by ETHGlobal’s Kartik Talwar, the discussion explores the motivations behind ERC-4337, its impact one year since mainnet launch, and the future of smart accounts. Learn how paymasters, session keys, modular account systems, and native L2 integrations are shaping the Ethereum ecosystem. With over 3 million smart accounts deployed and $2 million in gas subsidized via paymasters, the conversation reveals how developers, users, and rollups can prepare for a fully abstracted Ethereum. Whether you’re building wallets, dapps, or infrastructure, this session provides essential insights into where Account Abstraction is headed and what it means for the next billion users. 00:00 Intro to the Account Abstraction panel 00:46 Reflecting on one year of ERC-4337 02:16 On-chain growth and ecosystem traction 04:02 Why ERC-4337 was created as a contract 06:53 What is Account Abstraction and smart accounts 08:33 ERC-4337’s benefits and flexible design 10:16 Transitioning from research to implementation 11:47 Paymasters and ERC-20 gas payments 13:30 How paymasters work and sponsorship logic 14:31 Are smart wallets required for account abstraction 16:14 Migrating EOAs to smart accounts and its risks 18:50 Kristof’s take on EOA migration and network effects 19:53 Is Account Abstraction solved? Pragma is a one-stage conference with founders-only on stage, bringing together a small group of curated attendees and speakers to discuss the future of web3 and reflect on the past. Ever since we first introduced our new event series Pragma in Tokyo of the spring of 2023, we have been fostering a curated, global community of individuals who deeply care about web3. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ✅ *Follow ETHGlobal* X: https://x.com/ETHGlobal Warpcast: https://warpcast.com/ethglobal Website: https://ethglobal.com YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ETHGlobal _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _Are you interested in Ethereum development and entrepreneurship?_ 👉 Sign up for the next ETHGlobal event: https://ethglobal.com/events 🎁 Get exclusive access and perks with ETHGlobal Plus! https://ethglobal.com/plus 📣 Want us to throw an event in your city?
