The Tor Project: Privacy for the Commons - Buenos Aires 2025
Fri, Jan 2, 2026, 12:00 AM
Tor Keynote Presentation: Roger Dingledine lays out Tor as shared infrastructure for privacy—designed so no single relay can link who you are with where you’re going. He draws a line between encryption and anonymity, and argues that “trust us” privacy (many VPNs) can’t replace systems that minimize trust by design. Roger then moves to censorship resistance (Snowflake) and onion services for publishing without exposing a server’s location, ending with a call to grow the network—especially by getting more universities in South America to run relays. Speaker: Roger Dingledine (Tor Project) This session was part of the 14th edition of Funding the Commons, held November 19, 2025, at Fundación Beethoven in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
