my name is t uh I work in Redstone for for a few years right now and I would like to talk about switching your career from web 2 to web fre word so wait a second uh how it will be oh yeah uh so yeah I'm developing for a couple of years commercially before for like hobby uh and I work in the different companies like startups uh corporations and few software houses and my story is like I was in the web 3 then I switched to web 2 for a little bit of software house working and then I switched back to web free uh mostly because before the covid the remote work was really hard to find in Poland here so uh yeah I had to change job because of moving uh from one city to another and yeah and totally around four years in the crypto companies maybe more I don't know like hard to hard to count so I have the thesis yeah that which I want to defend that web free is little bit different than web 2 like uh from my perspective it's very different and I would like to talk about a little bit uh and what are the main differences so the first thing I believe it's the most important one is web free domain is really complicated like uh when you are working with uh topics like in in the web to world you are working with the topics which are really easy to comprehend like you are developing I don't know reservation system you are developing I know I was working on I know app for ordering food from one of the pizzer Pizzeria here in Poland so it's really easy to comprehend you you use you can use it every day you think about it every day you just at the F first glance you know how it works so it's kind of easy to also work on this like you just you just think you can only think about fancy features and things like that and really nice ux and in the cryptosphere it's a little bit different because you are working with topics which are hard to find in the real life like everyday life maybe not a real real everyday life uh you don't you know you don't land crypto every day for example you don't swap crypto every day if you are not djan uh so so it's really hard to to to find these things in everyday life and I believe it's really hard to work on these things when you are not familiar with it and also there are a lot of distant different topics I mean even here in the conference you you have talks about ZK you have talk about l2s you have talk about infrastructure you have talk I don't know many many advanced advanced topics and they're are really distant from one one from each other and it's sometimes hard to comprehend all of the things at once so so so so just just think about like like know you try to you try to cover all the topics you try to be familiar with all the topics and it's really hard like like you don't know what will be hot next year what will what you should work on and and when you go to the company and you really don't know on which topic you will be working it's a little bit like overwhelming I would say especially for for for for for begin begin people uh and yeah and in the end like you always interact with open database through smart contract and you always have to have it in on on on on back of your mind that that in the end there is transaction to open database and I I saw in in in many places that especially uni don't understand it that that that they in the end they're just sending the transaction and they don't understand where it goes how it works etc etc there's still blockchain uh in the end yeah so does anybody uh does does anybody doesn't know what is the the smart contract I have to you know talk about no no no okay we can go further yeah so what is how to how to solve it like learn learn constantly need to learn uh my my my my my my way to learning is from lectures especially like just YouTube videos if I have some topic which I don't understand I just put it in the YouTube and I uh try to find good video about it with many views and just try to understand what's going on but also like articles podcasts many people probably listen to the podcast I believe and uh meetups meetups conference is like the best place to learn new things and uh be uh bebb um BB uh um yeah following the freshest news on what's going on oh it's good point how like do you know many books from web free word yeah it's good question like my colleague like few years ago was writing um I master or engineering tesis with within the web forward and he had a lot of troubles finding books he can put uh in the I don't know how it's called it English but in the Polish you have to always put the sources yeah something like that yeah and and and and in Poland professors doesn't understand don't understand that that that books doesn't exist like they do don't exist that we need to put some website with articles uh for the web free like yeah references exactly I made it up right yeah I made it up and what about courses udmi Etc yeah probably at the beginning okay but I I'm not super super fan of that I I don't know I I I I I done few with I don't know AI or something like that and I I don't think that they're okay at the beginning but later when you try to cover like much Advanced topics I believe they are like they have really broad knowledge but not not not going deeper deep into details so so probably so some overall overall um overall explanation is there okay uh so maybe this one what what I'm doing but mostly lectures from from YouTube but yeah books if you find any probably some yellow books white papers and and things you know yellow books to go sorry uh yellow white paper yellow paper yeah yeah white paper yellow paper yeah uh I've got probably from ethereum one and but I have never read it so so so yeah uh and udmi courses yeah also also good point good point I could put it there uh so yeah you probably need to learn all the time and what is really important when you are working as a programmer in web fre word you constantly learning new things regarding the programming like programming programming I don't know you watch some YouTube videos you you you try new Technologies etc etc and here in web free besides doing this you need to also learn things from web free word mostly Financial because we live live live mostly in the financial World in web free but you have to learn this constantly constantly and like it could be could feel overwhelmed with all of this I I sometimes feel overwhelmed like like I don't know what's going on I don't understand what's going on uh I try to do do my best to be good programmer but beside of this try to understand what's going on in web fre word but it's sometimes hard uh so these are these are uh two slides from my colleagues lecture what what he thinks we should learn about defi so just see how many things you have to learn uh with just to understand what defi is so wallets how blockchain Works uh layer one versus Layer Two what's going on in Layer Two word stable coins dexes how to uh swap one um one crypto into another and also you know impermanent laws what's going on here like sequencer like who knows how sequencer in l two works so yeah so a lot of a lot of things uh just beside the being like good programmer and also on the second slide yeah we've got Landing stable coins CDP staking Bridges on't oracles yeah we are here oracles uh and yeah so many many things only to understand Defi and beside of this there's infrastructure how how nodes work how RPC Works things like that uh so yeah a lot of a lot of things so going further Advanced security so why I think Advanced security is really important because there always money involved in the blockchain so either you are programming or you are working on financial protocol or or even if you think you are not doing this there are always money involved somehow so yeah so in the end user is sending money funds from it needs funds to to interact with the protocol with the blockchain so even if you think you are working on front end side there is still funds involved um and Security in the first place you always have to think about security especially here but also like imagine the imagine the bank but maybe this one yeah imagine the bank when things are but Bank when within within which things are changing each month so because we are really really working in the flexible and quickly changing word so new new ideas come up every probably week new uh new protocols new I would say also new algorithms new cryptography and for example we are constantly working on Research uh and we are trying to to implement new things and but we still have to think about security so so imagine the situation that that okay I would like to implement I don't know use new algorith use new security thing but what's going on when when there's no audited there's no no no any anyone no one is using it still so it's really hard to you know be secure and flexible at the same time so it's really really sometimes hard uh but we try to do this also a lot of companies just doesn't give a about being flexible like like they just just they created one smart contract and they stick to it for the rest of the of the life and and that's all but but probably they will be obsolete in I don't know one year or something like that well not all of them but some some of them and uh yeah and also first my first work in the web fre world the company was crazy about good quote code quality like we were really really PRS were not merched for for months and we were like playing ping pong with comments and things like that um but yeah all all of this only for to to be secured and to to to not have bugs from from you know from only from the Bad Code not putting quality on the first place so yeah I think this is one this is from security and we have new tooling completely new tooling for for for interacting web for word so we've got new languages languages are for smart contract development so solid Viper probably everybody knows for pk. sway I don't even know for what F fuel fuel yeah Fuel and probably more Lua there is also Lua language so uh a lot of new languages um but there are mostly for smart contract development so um if if you are not working with smart contracts you don't have to care about it but you have to know that that that that there are this languages and probably we will touch them sooner or later later new toolkits for developers hardcut Forge F few few others uh and they are used mostly for interaction with the blockchain so so probably probably most developers in the web free world have have to new new this and they will use it very often uh but which is which is maybe more more like happy happy happy thing that part of the codes are in the written in the old languages like JavaScript typescript rust go uh and I mean mostly infrastructure part mostly I would say UI UI Parts they're written in the in the in the old languages I don't know how to call it like some old languages uh and uh I asked my my colleagues what what they like about working with a free word so one of answer was uh a lot of custom work so there are no like ofthe art solution there are but there are like you don't really have to follow them like constantly you have to think about new ideas new new new things to do some some some uh some custom work and things like that so uh it's really good when you try to learn new things and and you don't want to you know like build a dashboard okay I'll will use this this this I'll create this and probably you will use use the same things for for 10 times and and or things like that if you are if you are Keen to learn new things it's it's a good good thing uh and yeah next part ux ux probably there are few lectures here that that say that ux is getting better probably but it's still not in the best shape previously I wrote there sacks because it was sucking but now it's getting a little bit better uh I was I was on the lecture talking about new wallet with no fun something like that some magic happening uh just to make it easier but uh I don't know if you tried to like explain any to anyone how wallet works or what they have to do in order to just send fonts from one place to another or I don't know use Simple D app it's really hard like I don't even try like I don't try to talk with about it with my parents wife or like no no uh so I don't really nowadays I don't really think that we are really close to mass adoption like really mass mass adoption that my mother will be using wallet in order to order something I'm I don't think we are close to it still but maybe I don't know new generation will come and they will everyone will have wallets after birth or something um but probably all of previous things were bad so I would like to say a few good things so as you probably saw during this convers during this conference there everyone is open to talk share ideas and you know grab a beer and talk about anything technology not technology like people are really really really really fun and and easygoing so this is really cool uh and in many cases you can talk directly to to Really um to to people who are in lead who are lead C Level and things like that our our CEO was standing today on our booth and you could talk to him without any troubles and he will answer your all your questions so it's really nice like I liked it and also uh we are interacting with many protocols and always I can talk directly to someone and always I can even on telegram or Discord I can talk to to to people directly they can answer all my questions uh and uh yeah so so and a lot of code is open sourced um a lot of contracts are open sourced not all of them because of the security reasons but mostly code is open source uh and you can take a look you can always always um or can always I don't know make a p request to them to to fix something uh we do this quite often so it's also really really um good to to to know that you always can take a look on the code and not just shooting blindly to to try to fix something or use something uh and also there are a lot of companies without stre rules you don't have to wear ties and things like that so this was also one of my colleague answer why why he likes working here because no clues and also one of the answer was he he was working in he was working in software house and we have this name in Poland that it is y yanek so it means like really really bad place to work uh and he was you know like the software houses you are sold to other companies in order to work there so we are like no you're so you are like I know how it's called it but uh so uh and it turns out that he was sold in the places uh with with promise that he knows something he didn't really know and it was really conflict uh there because you know he was start he started working and clients asked him about any problem and he said I don't know how to do this because I'm not not um familiar with the topic uh and it was really like conflict situation and and and he he said that he prefer to work in the companies like with the product where he can we work on one thing uh so yeah maybe maybe some questions or anything like maybe you want to know more yeah about learning what do so you mentioned a few sources for learning what do you think about learning from Twitter Discord when transferring into web 3 uh if if you can find any useful information there it's okay like but I I see my Twitter board or or Discord especially Discord is like fully with with nonuseful information like many many things which are I don't I don't see how you can use them after like uh I Twitter is really good for I would say getting the context what's going on like like if there is a big conference you know in the other side of the world you can you can learn what's going on there you can see what is like Hot Topic not Hot Topic so I mostly use Twitter for this so knowing what's what's what's going on in the world but not learning like things maybe I will find what I should learn further uh in more advanced way answer your question all right perfect so let's get a few more questions in here guys anybody else have a question come on there there must be someone I've got a question is your team I just speaking out with some of the team there are you guys attending the hackin this uh next couple days uh yeah yeah I will be there more like mentoring and but I know my colleagues are trying to to hack something I I will also talk about few words about Redstone but but I think like this was more more like first part and this is like the second part so if you don't have any more questions about the first part I will I will go with what's the Redstone is how what we do and things like that so yeah so we are really fun team we have money Etc and we have nice people who are supporting us yeah uh and and what is important uh we do a lot of research and we produce reports uh which which can be uh which can be found on our website and you can learn uh few things from from our reports like like like St about stable con LST lrts oh many like I don't know six or seven uh really really uh Advanced uh reports about what's going on so so so uh and we are doing oracles oracles and why do we need oracles oracles are devel de delivering data to di apps uh in order to use them uh and mostly this is prices prices of asset mainly crypto and mainly eth like eth is the one of the most important uh and why why why why do you need to like sorry no so why do you need to ro also blockchain is isolated system you cannot fetch data from from the smart contract you have Smart contract and you cannot fetch data from the smart contract you need to push push uh data to Smart contract so um it's it's not it's not uh easy topic I would say uh because uh like blockchain is cannot cannot give you get why you cannot fetch data from from external world because uh you have to always have possibility to calculate whole blockchain from from from day from the from here to the to the beginning like you always need to have this ability to calculate it and if there was the fetching data from the external W you probably will fetch another another value when you are recalculating whole blockchain so this is main uh main point why it's isolated system and why you need to push uh data from from from somewhere to the blockchain uh and oh sorry yeah so we are we are growing we have a lot of protocols which uses us and and we are securing almost $4 billion but maybe more about the technology itself so standard push Oracle uh implemented by chain link and it works like that that we have a lot of sources here like our sources from which we fetch data about the prices and then we have node operators which get this data um calculate the proper value with median mostly but other other other methods of calculation are possible and then push it to the blockchain so there are constantly pushing prices to the chain and uh what is important on the Chain each uh memory slot for each memory slot you have to pay so if you are pushing constantly prices you have to pay a lot of money for it and um so which is good and also we need to pay even if you are not using this price so it's not like I would like to use price right now uh and I I should have it but the note operators are pushing constantly and paying for for it and after there is a price on the contract you need you can use it from any D app uh yeah not scalable and and it's hard to it's even hard to get new uh new new new prices like new kind of prices because um because not only like implementing itself is really easy but whole infrastructure is really costly also so it's really hard to get new new assets yeah and we are pushing and we come up with different solution uh a little bit so we have also this part is the same we have nodes uh but we don't push prices directly to the chain but we push it to the some layer we call data distribution layer uh and contract itself does not does not take the price data from from another contract but using like our here is here is our software which fetch data from this data distribution layer and attach price data to the transaction so when user is going to use some protocol it's get data from here and attach it to the transaction which will be later sent to the to the contract which means the price itself is used only when it's needed it's not there is no place where we push constantly the data so this is really good solution I would say of of course it produced like middle layer which is no each each new component is risky but we try to manage it and uh I was talking a lot about like tooling languages and things like that so imagine this is our whole whole whole ecosystem so we use only solidity here like this is place where we was only solidity rest of this is Javascript and R and go so if you think that you will go to the web reward and you will use solidity like constantly it's not really that true most of the software is written in the different languages the solity is used in a few places only and it's like really I would say final actor of of all this all of this game so yeah uh and here are some like how use our our oracles but maybe it's not a really super important uh because uh yeah so here's the our model uh and as you can see there's a a lot of JavaScript code from which you uh you you you this is this is wrapper you you wrap your contract and uh you can like um Define which data you want to use for example dbtc and here is like this magic what which happened which fetched the data from this middle layer and attach it to the transaction so when you um interact with the smart contract through some function uh the price data will be there so so will be will be sent and in the contract here here's the part of the contract you can use this data uh price data here without any troubles and here's the old system like like push model so you just take price data from some contract here and you can use it so it's it seems simpler but it's not really scalable so this is the main issue here and we try to solve it with different model uh and yeah so once again so the is not your solution H so okay good question so we've got both so imagine the situation that we invented like and implemented this this this uh this solution but in terms that the market needs needs old model like old chaining model because for example they have their contract already audited they don't want to change many things like because you have to for example wrap your contract with our contract so they will need to change their contracts which are already audited and they don't want to do this so the only thing they can do for example is change the this contract from which they will take the price data so we have we had to just go with the flow and uh and Implement our own own version of chaining model in order to you know to to to get some clients which without it they will not uh they will not try they will not even try to use us because uh it's too maybe not too much work but because of the security I said before they don't want to CH uh do many changes so this is this is why and yeah so we currently have both models uh and I would I would say that this one is used more so so we've got more clients using uh this old model than new one that's the life uh sorry oh sorry sorry sorry just so yeah so that's all we are hiring uh so so yeah as I said we have a lot of money and we are hiring people that's going to still be F that should be on the website great team lots of money let's get a massive Round of Applause for Caesar guys cesari sorry I'm thinking I'm thinking young Caesar in my head there so um no absolute pleasure thanks for the session
